As early as you can, especially during graduation season. The closer we get to commencement, the harder it gets to find good times with good light and less crowd chaos.

Most sessions are designed to be long enough to get variety without turning the day into a photo marathon. That usually means enough time for classic portraits, personality shots, location variety and a few fun ideas.

Beaches, hills, downtown SLO, campus spots, open fields, urban corners, family homes or anywhere that makes sense for the look you want. If you already have a spot in mind, great. If not, I can help narrow it down.

Yes. Common choices include the Cal Poly sign wall, Poly Canyon, campus walkways and other recognizable spots. We can also avoid the obvious spots and find something quieter if you want a less cookie-cutter look.

Yes, as long as the locations are close enough to make sense within the session time. Two nearby spots can work great. Five locations across town usually just turns into driving instead of shooting.

Parking depends on the location. Campus sessions, downtown sessions and beach sessions can all have different parking headaches. I’ll help plan the meeting spot so we are not wasting half the session trying to find each other.

Bring something you feel good in, something your parents will like and something that feels like you. Clean, fitted clothing photographs better than anything overly busy. If you are unsure, bring options.

Yes. Even if you want casual photos, bring the cap and gown. We can get the traditional shots first, then loosen things up and make the rest of the session feel more personal.

Yes, as long as they make sense and do not take over the whole session. Champagne, confetti, signs, flowers, books, sports gear, instruments and personal items can all work.

Usually, yes. Bring treats, a leash and someone who can hold the dog when they are not in the photo. Also make sure the location allows dogs.

Absolutely. Clean portraits, smiling photos, cap and gown shots and frameable images are standard. Your parents will not have to beg me for the classic stuff.

Yes. Fun photos are the whole point. Classic shots are important, but you did not work this hard just to get the exact same photo as everyone else.

Yes. Parents, siblings, partners and friends are fine. We can get a few group photos, then focus on the graduate. For larger groups, it helps to tell me ahead of time so the session does not get hijacked by logistics.

That is normal. You do not need to know how to pose. I’ll direct you through it, fix the weird hand problem, watch the angles and keep things moving so you are not standing there wondering what to do with your face.

If the weather is actually bad enough to ruin the session, we reschedule. If it is just cloudy, that can photograph beautifully. The goal is good photos, not forcing a bad shoot just because it was on the calendar.

Wind can be annoying, but it is not always a dealbreaker. We can work with it, adjust angles, choose protected spots or reschedule if it is genuinely going to wreck the session.

Let me know as soon as possible. A few minutes usually is not a disaster. Being very late can reduce shooting time, especially when we are chasing sunset light.

Usually, yes, within reason. Weather, illness and real-life chaos happen. The earlier you communicate, the easier it is to find a new date.

Some areas are included and some locations may require a travel fee. If your location is outside the usual service area, I’ll confirm any added cost before the session.

Standard delivery is within seven business days. You will receive a curated online gallery with professionally edited images ready for download, sharing and print ordering.

The exact number depends on the session, but the goal is a strong finished gallery with variety. You will not receive every test shot, blink or duplicate. You will receive the good stuff.

Editing includes color, contrast, exposure, cropping and polish. It does not mean turning you into a different human. Temporary blemishes are fine to clean up. Major body reshaping is not the vibe.

Yes. Your finished gallery will be suitable for personal printing. You can order through the gallery when available or download the files and print elsewhere.

Yes. Posting your grad photos online is expected. Credit is appreciated, especially if you are tagging vendors, schools or other people involved.

Yes. The online gallery makes it easy to share photos with parents or relatives so they can view, download or order prints depending on the gallery settings.

Rush delivery may be available depending on the schedule. If you need photos for announcements, a party, graduation weekend or a deadline, bring that up before the session.
